Motonobu Kurokawa, AIA

Principal

Motonobu Kurokawa, a registered architect in the state of New York with 20 years of professional experience, formed his own firm in 2012.  Kurokawa is also a Project Designer at TPG Architecture, leading design teams on new construction projects such as the M&B Building at 201 E 57th Street in New York, the HIP Medical Center at 447 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn as well as countless design efforts for developers, retailers, and cultural institutions. Kurokawa demonstrated his ability to work with diverse clients and consistently generate clear, elegant, yet innovative vision in his work.

Kurokawa has also collaborated with Lee/Timchula Architects, formerly Edward Larrabee Barnes Associates, in the design and construction of large scale civic buildings and master planning in China such as Shenzhen Citizen's Center and Jinan South Urban Development.

 

 

 

Awarded and exhibited worldwide, Kurokawa's regularly participates in architectural design competitions, most notably for his winning entry: “The Ephemeral Structures in the City of Athens Competition” a pavilion proposal for the Athens Olympic in 2004.

With a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and a Master of Architecture Degree from Columbia University, Kurokawa was honored for his promise in the profession as the recipient of two prestigious awards: a nominee to represent the school for the Skidmore Owings and Merrill Traveling Fellowship and the Mathew Del Gaudio Award for “excellence in total design” by the New York Society of Architects.
