The existing house is situated within the steep slope much like a terraced rice field, which maximizes the habitable area. There are four terraces on the existing site connected by seventy-five steps, allowing visitors to experience the panoramic view from different elevations. The house addition project responded to the sectional condition of the existing site by proposing two new terraces and steps.
A wooden terrace extends beyond the living room allowing smooth and continuous transition between interior and exterior.
A steel staircase leads one from the wooden terrace to the artificial turf roof deck.
The juxtaposition between natural landscape and artificial green accentuates the idea of upgrading the existing site by building an artificial platform.
