Streetlight

Epicureanism, indulgence, mass consumption, visual eclecticism, and ephemeral nature, Art Deco stimulates New Yorkers. Accenting the skyline, the bygone movement appears and reappears throughout the cityscape and also along the skyline.

Add-ons such as traffic/pedestrian signals and luminaries will be suspended from spreading branches. (Note that some of the branches stay as is for the future add-ons.)

Highlighting the elision between the street as an efficient circulating machine vs. street as a romantic/theatrical retreat, the structure of the streetlight will replicate a growing vine. Add-ons such as traffic/pedestrian signals and luminaries

The proposed design intends to fulfill New Yorker's endless demands both as pragmatic and as a hedonic city. It is a product of the reciprocal reaction between pattern and device, individuals and the city.
