Epicureanism, indulgence, mass consumption, visual eclecticism, and ephemeral nature, Art Deco stimulates New Yorkers. Accenting the skyline, the bygone movement appears and reappears throughout the cityscape and also along the skyline.
Add-ons such as traffic/pedestrian signals and luminaries will be suspended from spreading branches. (Note that some of the branches stay as is for the future add-ons.)
Highlighting the elision between the street as an efficient circulating machine vs. street as a romantic/theatrical retreat, the structure of the streetlight will replicate a growing vine. Add-ons such as traffic/pedestrian signals and luminaries will be suspended from spreading branches.
The proposed design intends to fulfill New Yorker's endless demands both as pragmatic and as a hedonic city. It is a product of the reciprocal reaction between pattern and device, individuals and the city.
